Matanza is more than a link in the chain. We have our own slaughterhouse, where we slaughter cattle and calves for our wholesale business and for customers looking for a reliable, straightforward partner.

We work with clear agreements, dedicated contacts and a closely monitored process. What is slaughtered, when it happens and how the meat is processed afterwards: you know exactly where you stand.

EVERYTHING UNDER ONE ROOF.
MODERNISED FOR CONTROL
AND ANIMAL WELFARE.

Our slaughterhouse, cutting plant and packing area are all in the same building. This means the meat does not have to travel far after slaughter.

In 2024, these operations were thoroughly modernised with new equipment and a carefully planned layout. This keeps our processes short, the cold chain closely monitored and control in our own hands.

From slaughter to cutting and packing: each step follows naturally from the last.

Renewed for tomorrow.
With respect for the trade.

In 2024, Matanza was thoroughly modernised. Not to look bigger, but to work better.

We invested in modern equipment, energy-efficient technology, water treatment, solar panels and CO₂ refrigeration. Expertise from Thomas More was also involved in the design of the renewed slaughterhouse, with particular attention to animal welfare, food safety and efficiency.

This is how we build on what has always been there: craftsmanship, trust and respect for animal welfare.

Steven personally selects the animals from local farmers and trusted livestock dealers with whom relationships have been built over many years.

The process therefore starts long before the slaughterhouse, with the animals’ origins. They are not sourced from far away or selected anonymously: they are followed closely from the start.

Most of the animals come from within a maximum radius of 60 km around Matanza. This limits transport time and creates a shorter, more transparent chain.

This matters for animal welfare, as well as for calm handling throughout the subsequent process. Fewer intermediaries, fewer detours, more control.

Matanza achieved IFS Food Higher Level certification with a score of 95.26%. This certification confirms what matters in our daily operations: hygiene, food safety, traceability and control over the entire process.

At the slaughterhouse, this means careful reception, clear records, sound working methods and a process in which nothing is left to chance.
